The Secure Verification Code (CSV in Spanish Código Seguro de Verificación) is a computer term that designates a unique code that identifies an electronic document in the Spanish Public Administration. This alphanumeric code usually appears on all documents issued electronically. Spanish Laws 39 and 40 of 2015 introduce the Secure Verification Code (CSV) in the following articles:
- Article 42 from Law 40/2015 on the Legal Regime of the Public Sector (In Spanish Ley 40/2015 de Régimen Jurídico del Sector Público) about signature systems for automated administrative action. In its section b) it includes the Secure Verification Code connected to the Public Administration, body, public body or entity of Public Law, in the terms and conditions established, allowing in any case the verification of the integrity of the document through access to the corresponding electronic office.
- Article 27 from Law 39/2015 of the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations (In Spanish Ley 39/2015 del Procedimiento Administrativo Común de las Administraciones Públicas) on the validity and effectiveness of copies made by Public Administrations. Public Administrations, through the corresponding electronic office, the Secure Verification Codes or other verification system used.
